14 Kobo Daishi
Kobo Daishi (774 ‐835) is the founder of Shingon Buddhism. He studied esoteric Buddhism in China, and he was the first to bring these esoteric teachings to Japan.
He is believed to be still alive, praying at Mount Koya.
