Zazen meditation experience
Ajikan meditation experience (breathing and meditation techniques in Shingon Buddhism that purify the mind)
Every Friday from 3:00 PM
(30-minute session and 60-minute session available)
When people hear the word zazen, they may associate it primarily with Zen Buddhism. However, meditation is a fundamental and essential practice within Buddhism as a whole.
Based on Sūsokukan (mindfulness of breathing), a meditation method taught by the Buddha, this session invites you to experience deep, calm, and relaxed breathing.
Breathing and Mental Balance
During meditation, we practice abdominal (diaphragmatic) breathing.
This breathing technique stimulates the diaphragm and is said to help regulate the autonomic nervous system, reduce stress, and activate the brain.
For those who are interested, you may also experience Ajikan, a seated meditation practice of Shingon Esoteric Buddhism.
A Quiet Moment for the Modern World
In today’s age of information overload, smartphones have made life more convenient—yet our minds are constantly in motion.
Why not pause for a moment in the tranquil space of a temple, step away from the noise, and reconnect with yourself?

Program Overview & Features
- First-time participants are warmly guided by the head priest, who provides clear and careful instruction.
- You will experience Ajikan meditation, a traditional practice of the Shingon school, as well as compassion meditation, a form of mindfulness meditation.
- In compassion meditation, you gently calm your mind while wishing for the happiness of yourself and those dear to you.
- Participation using chairs is also possible, and children are welcome as long as they can sit quietly for 10–20 minutes.
- This is not a strict Zen-style meditation session, but a relaxed and peaceful gathering designed to help you unwind.
Important Notice
Please refrain from participating if you have a history of mental illness, trauma, anxiety disorders, or depression, as meditation may worsen symptoms in some cases.
